Spalding blaze ‘under control’

A blaze at a vacant block in Spalding today has been brought under control, according to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

Three crews from the Geraldton Fire and Rescue Service and two crews from the Geraldton Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service were called out to the blaze near Strickland Street about 2.55pm.

A DFES spokeswoman said the fire was contained about 3.30pm and brought under control about 3.45pm.

She said firefighters were still on the scene.

The cause of the fire had not been determined.

Police are attending and assisting with traffic control.
