A 33-year-old Spalding woman allegedly confronted a 95-year-old woman while shopping last week, demanded she drive her to Waggrakine and then stole her handbag.

Police said the victim was loading groceries in her car at 12.30pm on Friday when the woman entered her car and demanded to be driven to Waggrakine.

The victim reluctantly complied and, on arrival, the accused allegedly stole the victim’s handbag and fled on foot.

Police said a portion of stolen property was later recovered.

The 33-year-old was charged with trespass, stealing, giving false personal details to police and breach of bail.

She was remanded in custody to face Geraldton Magistrate’s Court at a later date.
