Speedway season comes to a close this weekend as Geraldton holds final events

The Geraldton Speedway will hold its final events this weekend as it hosts round one of the WA Pro Modified State title this weekend. The V8-powered pro modifieds will headline the final action for Geraldton Speedway this season with support divisions in the F125s, productions and junior stars categories. Sunday will see the final running of cars when the club holds its sponsor’s day celebration. “This is Geraldton City Speedway’s last event of the season so get behind it and make it an awesome event to finish of a great season,” the club said. Elsewhere Geraldton Speedway members have been busy with five drivers in action at the 2023 Australian National production sedan championships. Ashley and Mitchell Baker, Hayden Thomas, Dean Davidson and Dave Herbert hit the track at Ellenbrook at the weekend in hopes of claiming the title. Only the Bakers survived until the feature’s final with Ashley winning two heats while Mitchell claimed victory in the B main to qualify for the final. Neither could make their way through the pack however as Ashley finished 12th and Mitchell 15th. Meanwhile, the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar series final will be contested this Saturday night with Callum Williamson hoping to take second place from Jason Kendrick with championship leader Jame Inglis just needing to finish in the top 20 to claim the title. The final will get under way at 5pm at Perth Motorplex.
