Stables share spoils at Geraldton Turf Club’s mid-week meet with jockey Austin Galati riding two winners

Jockey Austin Galati was again in fine form, securing multiple wins at Geraldton Turf Club’s mid-week meet last Wednesday. Seven races were held in near perfect conditions under clear skies on a good track, with Galati crossing the finishing line first in races two and seven while fellow hoop Laqdar Ramoly had success with one win and three places. First up, jockey Tash Faithfull put a smile on the dial of trainers Daniel and Ben Pearce with favourite Gods Grin taking the honours, while Ramoly stormed home on board Latorio in a close finish for second and roughie Blood Saint at $61 held position to finish a couple of lengths back in third. Race two was Galati’s first triumph for the meet leading In Situ for Bonnie Stokes, riding the long way around the last turn to pass Viva Marconi and Summer Mood for the win and a $301 trifecta. Another big treble in the third paid $349 as the Graham Hammarquist-trained Southern Scandal was piloted for the entire journey by jockey Jefferson Tsang followed by Onemoretwomany and The Rush. Southland took out race four with jockey Troy Turner squeezing the four-year-old gelding through a gap off the rail, finishing strong for the Gordon Spowart stable, with Send it Son and Queen of Hawks close on his heels. The first three were barely troubled in the fifth with Yallingup Girl crossing first with Elisha Whittington on board the mare for Albert Bowtell from Be My Belle and Special Plan. Ramoly took the sash in race six aboard Divine Inanna for Meryl Hayley edging out Gold Keeper and Patchwork, the three racing home in a pack out wide to cross the line in a tight finish. Last race of the day enabled Galati to secure his second win, slicing through the field for Tony Scally on Snippety Legend ahead of Strapping Prophet and Master Alex. The next two meets at Geraldton Turf Club before Christmas are on Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 14 ahead of one of the season’s marquee events in the Walkaway Cup on Saturday, December 27.
