State Basketball League: Geraldton Buccaneers player allegedly hit with bottle in hotel incident

Police have charged a 26-year-old man with unlawful wounding after he allegedly attacked a 35-year-old Geraldton Buccaneers player at the Freemasons Hotel.

Police said the attack occurred about 5.10pm on August 12 during a team gathering.

The unidentified player was allegedly struck on the left side of the face with a bottle and received a laceration.

The man will face Geraldton Magistrate’s Court later this month.

Buccaneers coach Ray Evans said he did not wish to comment on the matter.
