STRATIGRAPHY and SUBJECT: STUDIO exhibitions showing at Geraldton Regional Art Gallery

Art aficionados have two new exhibitions to appreciate at Geraldton Regional Art Gallery, including works from a well-known South West artist and another showcase of combined pieces from a contemporary group each with their own distinct style. The two new exhibitions were opened on Friday and are available to view until Sunday, June 26. One exhibition features the latest works from well-known Donnybrook resident and artist Susan Ecker. The upstairs exhibition explores Ecker’s studio and practice, as well as her recent works including paintings, sculptures, prints and drawings. SUBJECT: STUDIO is a mixed art exhibition focusing on Ecker’s concepts and space, with her work being widely received around Australia and the United States. The downstairs exhibition is a joint-collaboration between four distinct artists, all sharing a complex relationship with Western Australia’s environment. STRATIGRAPHY brings four artists together — Merrick Belyea, Sarah Elson, Brad Rimmer and Susan Roux — who pride themselves in their differences in making sense of the land they capture.
