Sydney musician Zac Coombs performs The Sweet Caroline Tour: A Tribute to Neil Diamond at QPT in Geraldton

A storytelling performance paying tribute to iconic American singer-songwriter Neil Diamond is coming to Geraldton next weekend, delving into Diamond’s back catalogue and playing the big hits everyone knows. Musician Zac Coombs, who plays the part of Diamond, and band will bring The Sweet Caroline Tour to Queens Park Theatre on Friday, February 10. Coombs said the storytelling experience would remember the start of Diamond’s career in the 60s and finish all the way through to the 80s and 90s, covering the musician’s life and works. “I convey my performance much like he does; he talks about his songs and the way he developed his songs and the inspiration that came of it,” he said. “People can come and expect to see a storyteller show of all big Neil Diamond hits that everybody knows and loves.” Coombs said the audience could look forward to hearing the Monkees’ I’m a Believer, written by Diamond. The live tribute will feature Sweet Caroline, Cherry Cherry, Red Red Wine, Crunchy Granola Suite, Shilo, Forever In Blue Jeans, Girl You’ll Be a Woman Soon and more. The show was meant to come to Geraldton 18 months ago before COVID impacted travel, but the tour will finally kick off in WA in Geraldton after performing in other States. Diamond’s deep, resounding voice and timeless tunes made him one of the world’s most loved and lauded artists, earning him numerous Top 10 hits, Grammy awards and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
