Tactical Response Group swoop on Geraldton home

Update 11.16am:

Police have taken a person into custody and are continuing to search a house in Challener Street, Rangeway.

The Tactical Response Group is in Geraldton assisting police with the search.

Mid West-Gascoyne District Superintendent Roger Beer said the situation was not an emergency.

“It’s just really about a perceived risk that exists in terms of the safety of our officers,” he said.

“The TRG are better trained in high risk searches than we are, so we’ve called them to assist.”

It is understood there is no risk to the public.

Traffic managers have blocked vehicle access to sections of Challener and Dhu streets.

A press conference is expected later today.
