The Bachelors: Geraldton contestant Ellie Rolfe plays prominent role in first week of reality TV dating show
The Geraldton woman searching for romance on reality TV show The Bachelors has wound up in a love triangle, which gained plenty of air time in the first week of episodes.
Ellie Rolfe caught the eye of two of the season’s three bachelors on the first night — former NRL player Luke Bateman and model Ben Waddell — and felt an initial connection with both suitors.
Rolfe and Bateman wasted little time, sharing the season’s first kiss on the first night, prompting the 29-year-old beautician to declare she felt like she was in a “dream”.
Bateman then picked Rolfe for his first single date in the next episode, romancing her in a sickly-sweet farm outing that involved a rowing boat, a love heart-shaped pond, and inspiration from Bateman’s favourite movie, The Notebook.
But Waddell remained interested in Rolfe, leading to jealousy from Bateman.
“I always get nervous seeing Ellie and Ben go off together. It wouldn’t be the first time he’s cut my grass,” Bateman said to the camera.
After the back-and-forth, Rolfe decided to break the news to Waddell that she wanted to pursue Bateman.
“I can’t invest my energy in two people, and I’m at a point where I just want to be focused on Luke,” she said.
But that wasn’t the end of it, with Waddell expressing disappointment at being written off and telling Rolfe he wanted “another chance” to spend more time with her.
“Where do we go from here? S...,” Rolfe said.
“I’ve tried to make things clearer here, and I feel like it’s just got way more confusing.
“I’ve never had two men at the same time put in this much effort in wanting to get to know me.”
It may not be smooth sailing for Rolfe for the rest of the season, with Bateman already locking lips with a couple of other women in the first batch of episodes.
But, really, what do you expect from a show that has three men dating 24 women?
The Bachelors airs Sunday to Wednesday at 7.30pm on 10 and 10 Play.
