The Great Country Songbook Vol. III: Adam Harvey and Beccy Cole to perform at Geraldton’s Queens Park Theatre

Two of Australia’s best country singers are making their way to Geraldton to perform new album tracks and old classics as part of a national tour — finally reaching WA after COVID kept them out of the State. Country singer-songwriter from Victoria Adam Harvey and South Australian singer-songwriter Beccy Cole bring their tour to Geraldton on February 2 at the Queens Park Theatre. After 20 years of touring around Australia the duo will perform The Great Country Songbook Vol. III, a new album country music fans won’t want to miss. The performance will feature songs made famous by artist duos including Johnny and June Cash and Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. Old hits that might be on offer are Cole’s Poster Girl, along with 9 to 5 and Harvey’s The House That Jack Built and Genie in the Jim Beam Bottle. Harvey won the Traditional Country Album of the Year at the 50th Golden Guitar Awards held in Tamworth last year and is currently writing a book Tales from the Road, full of memories from his early touring days. He said he was eager to get back to Geraldton and relive many fond memories with hardworking people in a country music town. “We used to have a grand old time up there so it’ll be be lovely to get back there and it’s been too long between drinks,” he said. Harvey said the new album featured classic country songs the duo both loved and it was bound to be a hilarious night. “Beccy is one of the funniest people I’ve ever known and she’s one of my best mates, but man I still think she’s the best entertainer I’ve ever seen on stage,” he said. “I guarantee they’re gonna come along, they’ll have a great sing-along and they’re gonna leave with sore bellies, because they’ll have a great big laugh as well.” Cole was inducted in the 2022 Australian Roll of Renown honouring musicians’ contribution to country music and holds 11 Golden Guitars including Female Artist of the Year in 2019. She said the duo always had a great time together and country WA was her one of her favourite places to be. “It feels like WA has been shut off to us for quite some time so it’s really nice to be able to say we’re touring back over in the west,” she said. Cole said she’d suffered significant mental health issues and Harvey was able to help her come out the other end. “We give each other a hard time and we like a laugh but at the end of the day friendships are very, very important and especially if you’re going through a hard time with your mental illness.” The show is sure to offer a night full of giggles and cheekiness and guaranteed to have you singing along.
