The Rats aim to break the B52s winning streaks for men and women in the latest water polo round

The Rats will be looking to put an end to the men’s and women’s B52s A-grade sides superb run of form on Saturday at the Geraldton Aquarena. The B52s men’s team had a close match against the Demons at the weekend and will be looking to Kurt Tunbridge to continue putting the ball in the back of the net. He is sitting on seven goals for the season so far. As far as impressive scorers go, the Rats have their own to call on. Darcy Wiffen is on top of the scorers ladder with 12 goals to date and was looking forward to the weekend’s game and the race for top scorer. “I’m hoping we can put up a good fight . . . like we did the other week and to try score a few more goals to make the top scorer contest look more interesting,” he said. The women’s B52s must be full of confidence after their impressive 20-goal display over the Serpents, and Tenielle Hawke is already looking untouchable at the summit of the scorers ladder. Her side takes on a Rats side who will be disappointed not to have had their own win in round 6 coming away from an unlucky 4-5 loss. In the other A-grade games men’s team the Demons take on the Country Week composite side and in the women’s games the Demons play the Serpents. Despite their loss at the weekend the women’s Serpents side are finding their feet and will be hoping to gel in time to give Demons a good game. Trixie Kerr has been impressive in the centre of the pool for the Demons and gave her view on the players to watch out for this season. “Maggie Spiers and India Newman are playing their first season in A this year and they have been playing really well,” she said. The men’s Demons side were unlucky not to get a draw against the in-form B52s last round and will want to make their mark against the composite side. The men’s B-grade has thrown up some impressive games so far and the Demons against the B52s relics will hopefully continue the trend. The Demons are coming off the back of their 9-5 victory over the Rats and the Relics are looking for some redemption after losing out in their derby. The B52s take on Rats in the other Men’s B-grade match-up, Leo Prout hoping to continue his average of nearly 3 goals per match for the B52s. The women’s B-grade match-ups see the Serpents against the B52s and the Rats take on the Demons. Hailee Horsman has been showing great form over the last few games and will be looking to add to her goal tally for the B52s.
