The Visitors exhibition by Franca Barraclough makes its final stop at the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery

A highly acclaimed exhibition, powerfully interpreting the impact and influence of settler culture on desert life, is making its final stop on a national tour at the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery. GRAG will host the exhibition, The Visitors, by Alice Springs artist Franca Barraclough. Three years in the making, The Visitors depicts the impact of settler culture in the outback of central Australia through a series of billboard style photographs and multimedia installations. City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn is keen to check out GRAG’s latest exhibition. “I am always impressed with the range of exhibitions GRAG delivers and this latest show is no exception,” he said. “Central Australia is a captivating part of our nation and Franca Barraclough’s collection of fascinating artworks reveal the impact of external elements on the diverse communities of that region. “I urge everyone to come and enjoy this stunning representation of life in the Red Centre.” The Visitors is supported by Artback NT, Regional Arts Australia, Source Vibrations, the Australia Council for the Arts and the Northern Territory Government. The exhibition opens alongside another offering, Ink in the Lines, at 6pm on Friday and will remain on display until Sunday, March 12. Ink in the Lines is a touring exhibition courtesy of the Australian War Memorial about the link between tattoos and those in or connected to military life. Tickets to the opening night event are limited, so those interested should register their attendance via Eventbrite.
