Third annual Big Freeze in the Valley attracts questionable costumes and lots of fun in support of MND

The Big Freeze saw local stars brave it out in chilly conditions at Chapman Valley in the third annual Big Freeze in the Valley event. It had attracted some big names headlined by Brownlow medallist Matt Priddis and dual premiership player Lewis Jetta lacing up for Chapman Valley. But the ex-Eagles player turned movie star, sliding down as Top Gun’s Maverick with Meagan George serving as his wingman. Mitchell Boyle didn’t end up going down as Ken from Barbie as he previously suggested, instead opting for a rock-star look as Queen’s Freddie Mercury. Other stars dressed up as video game characters and even a bottle of champagne, all taking the plunge to help raise funds for MND research. The slide took place after the conclusion of the women’s match as temperatures plummeted below 10C but everyone managed to brave out the tough conditions. Organiser Mark Houston said the event had raised about $30,000 all up, making it the most successful Big Freeze to date, and hoped it would return even bigger next year.
