Thousands of Gmail users in Australia have been affected by problems with the free email service, according to a tech monitoring website.

According to downdetector.com.au, nearly 3000 users this morning reported problems logging in, using attachments or receiving messages.

“Gmail is having issues since 1.20pm EST (11.20am WST),” an advisory on the website said.

A recorded phone message at Google Australia’s office in Pyrmont, NSW, said the office was closed and referred users with tech queries to google.com/support
