Three local businesses have proven their commitment to food safety by winning the City of Greater Geraldton’s five star award for 2021.

L’Italiano, Spice House Geraldton and AJ’s Beach Cafe exceeded expectations during a comprehensive inspection process and experienced a taste of success by earning the Five Star Food Safety Award.

“The Five Star Program helps the public identify businesses in town that continuously execute excellent hygiene food safety practices,” City Mayor Shane Van Styn said.

“In order to win the Five Star Food Safety Awards, strict protocols must be met and adhered to. These three businesses have shown that they are willing and able to exceed these expectations.

“It is great to be able to celebrate these businesses and recognise their efforts in keeping a high standard of food safety.”

The star rating system ranks businesses from three to five stars, based on rigorous hygiene standards. This criteria has seen a number of local businesses in the region rewarded with a perfect five out of five stars.

Customers can identify a company’s score by looking for a sticker advertising their official star rating for 2021.
