Three of Geraldton’s best will represent the State over the next week at the Hockey Country Championships

The region’s best hockey players will be facing off at the country championships next week as the WA women’s side has three of Geraldton’s own. The country’s top regional players will all be in Shepparton, Victoria, from August 5-12 with the country championships kicking off on Saturday. With 18 players selected for each side, Geraldton is well represented with Camryn McKoy, Lauren Newman and Holly Stubberfield all in the women’s WA State team. The girl’s selection comes off the back of different trials and training sessions, along with a thrilling performance at the women’s State country championships. Geraldton claimed the win for the first time in five years when they took down Upper Great Southern in the women’s division one grand final, which all three girls played a part in. The team will play in five pool games over five days that will decide their placements for finals, starting with their clash against New South Wales on Saturday.
