Time running out for ladder positions as men’s A grades set to go down to the wire

The end is nigh for the Geraldton water polo season as teams are running out of time to make their final challenges for ladder positions. There are only three games left and with some divisions already sewn up in terms of top spot others are set to go down to the wire. The B52s have dominated in both A grades, with the women’s side being consistently impressive in the water with just one defeat due to a technical issue and only the Demons side has really been a match for them in the pool. The B52s will face the Rats which they should win easily with league top scorer Tenielle Hawke in line to break some league records should she keep up her form. The Demons face off against the Serpents in the other A game, and with many players returning to the Demons side they will give the rebuilding Serpents a tough game. In the men’s A-grade the B52s take on the Rats and the Demons go up against the composite country week side. The top two teams go in as heavy favourites and will be hoping for big wins to stamp their authority on the ladder. The Demons and the B52s sit on level points at the top of the table, with the Demons having a slightly better goal difference, with every goal now vital to determining who will finish at the top. The Demons’ goalkeeper Drew MacGregor, who has been in sensational form lately, was looking forward to giving the composite team a good challenge. “Should be a good weekend, taking on country week will be a good game like always and great chance for players from other clubs to play together,” he said. In the women’s B-grade games, the Demons are up against the Rats and the B52s take on the Serpents. It’s a similar story as with the men’s ladder with the B52s in top spot and the Demons in second. Hailee Horsman and Evie Prout lead the attack for the B52s, with more than 50 goals between them. In the C-grade games, the Demons Black play the Serpents, Demons Gold take on Rats Black and Rats Orange face the B52s in the women’s. The B52s White take on the Demons and the B52s Blue go up against the Rats in the men’s.
