Top of the table clash between Valley and Pumas headlines round three of the GABA

The top two sides in men’s division 1 will go head-to-head in round three of the Geraldton Amateur Basketball Association. Pumas and Chapman Valley are the only two teams without a loss this season, but one of them will fall on Tuesday, October 24. Pumas are coming off two dominant wins, scoring more than 100 points in their first two games and winning by an average of 48 in each. William Galvin has been taking the charge, dropping 59 points over the two-game stretch which currently sits at second in the league. Pumas also welcomed Tom Dobson, who didn’t play in the first week but had an impact in their win over Trades. While Chapman Valley have also looked a solid side through the first two weeks, picking up a solid 25-point win over the Olympians as the combination of Elliot Bennett and Russell Hurst have helped the side score. The following day, Olympians will take on Stateside, with both teams are coming off a loss. After two tough losses to start the season, Stateside are chasing their first win to get this year on track. Olympians, who had a one-point win in the first round, will be looking to bounce back after failing to keep up with the Valley last week. The Trades, who will also be chasing their first win, clash with the Hawks, who enjoyed a 63-point win last week. After nearly completing the comeback in week one and losing by just a single point, the Hawks bounce backed. Driving the team has been the league’s leading scorer Robert Griechen, fresh from his 51 points against Stateside. Complementing Griechen has been a tall pair of Buccs players, Ryan Blanchett and Fletcher Klasztorny. On the other side, Trades had a competitive round one loss but couldn’t get things going in round two. They will need a big game defensively this week. Round three for women’s division 1 took place on Monday night, as Trades clashed with Olympians and Chapman Valley took on Stateside.
