As teams rapidly work their way through the GNFWL season Towns are in danger of being left behind if they don’t win this weekend. Towns were by some margin the second-best team of last year before they were upset in the semifinal by their opponents this weekend, Northampton. They began this season with a thumping of Mullewa but since then have been on the wrong side of two tight games against Railways and Brigades. While they sit tied with Railways and Chapman Valley for third both those sides have games in hand and should they lose to the unbeaten Rams they will have a lot of work ahead to catch up. One thing on their side is it will be a weakened Northampton side with Asha, Sam and Tori Poletti, Maddi Miller and potentially Selina Kiddle all away leaving a bare-bones forward line. Mikenna Schultz comes back into the middle but will have her work cut out against the Bidwell sisters, Gould sisters and Lani Paradella. It isn’t quite alarm bells yet but if the Bulldogs can’t get over a second-string Rams side their finals credentials are in serious doubt. Elsewhere Railways will hope to boost their percentage against Mullewa after they missed out against Rovers with the game abandoned after a horror injury to a Rovers defender. Chapman Valley will look to do the same when they take on the Rovers at Greenough.
