Traffic accident involving West Coast Eagles recruit Tyler Brockman investigated by Perth’s road policing team

Police have not laid charges and say the investigation into a crash involving a West Coast Eagles player in Geraldton earlier this month remains ongoing. The investigation into a crash in Wandina that involved 21-year-old Tyler Brockman remains ongoing as local traffic police hand over the investigation to road policing investigations in Perth. A spokesperson for WA Police on Thursday said: “The investigation into a traffic crash in Wandina on May 4 remains ongoing.” On May 6, the Eagles released a statement notifying the public the young star was involved in a single-vehicle traffic incident in Geraldton early on Saturday morning. It occurred after he attended a funeral for a relative the afternoon prior. No one was injured and no other vehicle was involved. “Tyler’s personal circumstances are complex, and the club will prioritise his health and wellbeing ahead of any return to playing football,” the statement said. “The club has informed the AFL regarding this incident, and we await the outcome of the police investigation before making any further comment. The club requests Tyler’s privacy is respected at this time.” Shortly after the statement was released, Geraldton police acting officer-in-charge Sen Sgt Nathan Johansen confirmed no charges had been laid but a vehicle and scene assessment were to be completed. “A bit of groundwork needs to be done still, we should have an outcome in the next day or two,” he said.
