Two prime movers collide on Great Northern Highway near Meekatharra resulting in the death of a man in his 50s

A fatal crash near Meekatharra this week between two trucks has resulted in the death of a 56-year-old man after he received catastrophic injuries when part of a pump assembly overhung into the opposite lane of the road. About 10pm on Monday, a Kenworth prime mover towing three trailers was travelling south and a M.A.N prime mover was travelling north on Great Northern Highway. Police allege when the two vehicles passed each other, part of a pump assembly attached to the Kenworth came loose, hanging into the other lane. The object collided with the M.A.N prime mover, going through the windscreen and front cab. The driver of the M.A.N prime mover, a 56-year-old man, died at the scene. The 67-year-old man driving the Kenworth prime mover was not injured. Major crash investigators are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the fatal crash 60km north of Meekatharra on July 25, or who may have footage of the incident.
