Ugle Fabrications La Fiamma manage to steal a point on the road, hope to back it up at home this week

Ugle Fabrications La Fiamma managed to go on the road last week and take a point from Murdoch University in a draw. Now the team will be hoping to back up their performance on the weekend as they host second on the ladder Joondanna. While getting a point was much needed for the team’s season, captain Lachlan Gray said that it was disappointing only walking away from the game with a draw. “It was heartbreaking not to get the win, we were leading for so long,” he said. “Just let in a scrappy late goal. . . but it was still very important, we always aim to draw away games and win the home games, so very important in the scheme of things.” A win at home is what the Reds will be most certainly aiming for but it won’t come easy as they face tough competition in the Blues. “If we play in the way we played against (Murdoch) this weekend against Joondanna, I think we’ll be ok,” Gray said. “The game against (Murdoch) was a very hard-fought game, we missed a couple of opportunities as well, obviously doesn’t reflect the score line. “We’ve got to make sure that we want to work for each other and cut the opposition out quickly.” La Fiamma came some close to winning their game last week, scoring an early goal off the boot of Hayden Boffey gave the Reds control of the game. However, Murdoch managed to tie the game up in the 78th minute and the Reds couldn’t get the lead back. Gray said scoring early helped them to play better and take control of the game. “To score early is huge for us, because it just takes the initial pressure of you and puts it on the opposition,” he said. “It means we can still attack without the stress, we have to go and score, we can just play good offence.” Scoring early against the top side will come as a shock to the team that has only lost two games this season and will be vital in helping the Reds get a win. La Fiamma will face off against Joondanna on Saturday at Salvatore Sciuto Stadium from 6pm.
