Valley Groove 2022 at Nukara Farm hosted by Sweet Orange Productions to bring dance and joy to the Mid West

The Mid West’s biggest two-day adventure and dance fiesta is back again for a weekend of unwinding and camping, harking back to another era. Sweet Orange Productions have teamed up with Nukara Farm for a second year of the adventure dance splendour Valley Groove, presenting the Mid West with a massive line-up of local and travelling artists. More than 25 from artists across WA will appear over the weekend including Ada Rose, Bassfiend, Carte Blanche DJ’s, Marlee, Eggs, Eggs Benny, Micah, and Jbos. People of all ages and demographics 18 and over are welcome. Organiser Tyson Overstone said the music festival was one way to encourage the dance music scene throughout the Mid West and keep local artists performing on their home soil. Hosted on Nukara Farm, 33km north-east of Geraldton on July 29 and 30, the event is known as the best music getaway in the district. There is an option to camp overnight for $10 cash per head, going towards the upkeep of the Nukara property. But the event isn’t just a music and dance festival. Mr Overstone said one of the most important aspects was to get people out to the country to immerse themselves with nature and let go of everyday stresses. “It is one of the most amazing locations venue-wise in the world right here in the Mid West. Part of the reason we want to do this festival is to get more crew out there enjoying this amazing venue,” he said. “If there was ever a time people needed a dance and let their hair down, it’s now.” Last year, Valley Groove had around 350 people turn up to celebrate local dance music. This year an even better turnout is expected. With plenty of options to enjoy a bonfire in the country, follow nature trails, or participate in yoga and art workshops, Mr Overstone said Valley Groove was a place for people to feel stress-free for the weekend. “I think the artists are world-class, and we’re lucky to have them coming out to Chapman Valley,” he said. “The artists have been briefed that it’s about fun, upbeat tunes that all the different ages and demographics can enjoy.” Mr Overstone said those in the community who were doing it tough and working hard needed to get out and support both themselves and Valley Groove by getting involved. “We would love to make this a yearly event and hope we have the support of the local community. I feel people need to give themselves a break, come out, have a dance, let your alter ego out and have a good time,” he said. Instead of charging people to purchase alcohol, Mr Overstone said it was a bring your own alcohol event to make it affordable for guests. “We could have a bar and charge people to make this event more profitable, but that’s not what this festival is about,” he said. “We just encourage people to get out there, support it and appreciate how beautiful Nukara is so close to home.” To purchase a ticket, visit events.humanitix.com.
