Valley Groove 2023: Two-day camping dance festival enjoys another successful year with snowflake disco theme

The Mid West’s two-day music festival has made it through another year, with locals and travelling guests turning up to camp, unwind and dance in the valley. About 350 people turned up to Nukara Farm in Nanson to celebrate the third year of adventure dance splendour Valley Groove on the weekend. A welcome to country was performed at lunchtime on Saturday, followed by a beer yoga class before the stage lit up again. Some guests ventured out to the Fox Dam and swam in cool water to refresh, while others visited Braids by Zem to have their hair done, or Make Haven for face paint before getting their outfits on. Fire dancers performed at the tractor stage following a speech thanking sponsors and groovers before lighting the bonfire after sunset. Organiser Tyson Overstone thanked Phil and Donna Blakeway, for preserving Nukara Farm and allowing Valley Groove to happen. “They took a huge gamble and turned this into a wedding events space,” he said. “Without people like Phil and Donna taking a gamble and creating a space like this . . . they really set the tone for the rest of us coming up behind them.” Mr Overstone said it was important to support the local arts industry and recognise how hard artists work in the Mid West. “For anyone who has loved this weekend, please reach out because it’s the people and it’s us that would keep this place alive,” he said.
