Valley Groove 2024: Music and nature lovers prepare for nautical-themed festival at Nukara Farm, Nanson

Organisers of a popular music festival in the Mid West promise this year’s line-up will be the best yet, with live band and video DJ combination Feel Estate set to impress groovers. Valley Groove is back to celebrate music, dance, nature and movement while nestled in a quiet acreage surrounded by gumtrees and green valleys. About half an hour drive from Geraldton lies Nukara Farm, which will be transformed into a nautical wonderland next weekend, July 26-28. Nature lovers, creatives and music enthusiasts will set up camp over the two days, exploring the sounds of 20 local and travelling artists. According to Sweet Orange Productions, Feel Estate will combine elements of live band with video DJing to redefine the live performance experience. The seven-piece outfit has transformed from Fremantle band Brow Horn Orchestra, using their brass grooves, driving rhythms and vulnerable moments to create rare dance shows. Traditional instruments including drums, the trumpet and saxophone are paired with electronic beats to offer the best of both worlds. Local legend Jbos will use more than 20 years experience to carry the party, He is freshly returned from performing at Snow Machine in Japan and Dream Machine in Indonesia. Charlie Bucket is another experienced DJ set to mix the tracks for the first time in the Mid West. He has supported well-known DJs across the world. Starma Llama is a DJ, producer, MC, beatbox technician and entertainer, perfecting his talent since he was 15. Just think funk, house and drum and bass. Philly Blunt, Jbos, Pussy Mittens, Invoker, Luke Vecchio, Gooders, Dcoy, Jedd Bumbak, Tahni, DJ Minksy, Stoffer, Fussi, Lids, DJ Ryza, Loose Springsteen, Squeaky Frequencies and Loose Carrot are also locked into the festival. This year’s theme, naughty-cool, was announced last month. Organisers are encouraging festival-goers to dress all things nautical, from pirates and vikings to mermaids and other sea creatures. Sweet Orange Productions owner Tyson Overstone said some people perceived Valley Groove as a “bush doof”, but the stereotype was far from what organisers wanted. He said the two-day festival was jam-packed with live elements of entertainment and group activities were ample. “There’s more local artists than ever this year, there will be more live musicians and instruments than we’ve ever had before, there is just going to be so much entertainment this year,” he said. “Nukara is looking more beautiful than ever, the wildflowers are already out, the creeks are flowing.” The music festival draws a large crowd, with travellers making their way to the region from around the State for the event.
