Veronicas set to share Geraldton’s WoW factor
Australian pop duo The Veronicas have been announced as the headline act for Geraldton’s newest signature event, Wind on Water Festival.
Identical twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso will visit Geraldton for the first time in April, their first confirmed show in Western Australia for 2018.
The popular Brisbane-based musicians will wrap up the two-day WoW Fest on April 22 at a ticketed, all-ages concert, hosted by the City of Greater Geraldton.
Mayor Shane Van Styn said the WoW Fest concert was going to be a significant event.
“Get pumped, Gero. You’re in for a real treat!” he said.
“We will have a weekend jam-packed with activities, and we will wrap it up with a concert featuring none other than one of Australia’s favourite bands — The Veronicas.
“The City has had a real focus on bringing high-quality entertainment to the region and this is no exception.”
The Veronicas shot to fame in 2005 after the release of their debut studio album, The Secret Life of… which reached No.2 on the ARIA Album Chart.
Following their debut success, The Veronicas released their second album, Hook Me Up, in 2007.
After a lengthy hiatus which was briefly interrupted by collaborations, side projects and the 2012 single Lolita, the Veronicas released their third album in 2014.
You Ruin Me, the first single from the self-titled album, debuted at No.1 on the ARIA Charts, becoming their first song to debut in the top spot.
With new music expected to drop in 2018, The Veronicas’ set at WoW Fest could offer a glimpse of their upcoming fourth album.
WoW Fest will take place on April 21-22 and will encompass everything Geraldton has to offer, from fine weather to water sports and family activities on the foreshore.
Supporting acts for the concert will be announced in coming months.
