Detectives have released a composite image of a man wanted for questioning as part of their investigation into an arson incident which destroyed the historic Victoria Hotel in February.

Over three months, police have quietly continued their inquiries into the “deliberately lit” fire which led to the 159-year-old vacant building being condemned.

Firefighters battled for more than 10 hours on February 19 to save the building and surrounding structures after a blaze was reported in the second storey of the structure about 12.40am.

The building was demolished shortly after the fire, with part of Marine Terrace closed for two weeks and local businesses hurt by plummeting trade.

A WA Police spokesperson said police would like to speak to the man pictured and urged anyone who could assist in identifying him to contact Geraldton detectives on 9923 4555.
