Virgin cuts back Geraldton flights

Virgin Australia will reduce its Geraldton to Perth and Perth to Geraldton service to once a day as of January 28.
The airline currently operates 12 return service weekly on the route.
A spokesperson said there had been a decline in passenger numbers since the State Government deregulated the route, and possibly due to the new highway opening.
“Reducing services on a route is never our preference, however the industry has seen a decline of passenger volumes over the past few years as well as reduced customer demand,” she said.
“We are glad we can still offer a daily service.
“We will still operate it with Fokker 100 aircraft and we have re-timed some services to assist with connections between Perth; and Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.”
She said all passengers who were booked onto impacted services would be re-accommodated onto alternative flights, or offered a refund or travel credit.
