Mid West residents who still use 3G may need a new plan after Vodafone announced it was closing down the network. Vodafone plans to shut the network down by the end of 2023. This means devices that still run off the 3G network will no longer be able to make calls, send texts or access the internet. Devices that run with only 3G and some older 4G phones will be affected, meaning some people will need to upgrade. There are many older 4G phones that do not have the Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) feature. These devices will no longer be able to make or receive phone calls by next year. “If you’re a Vodafone customer using 3G, it is time to level up your mobile experience with a new device that can take advantage of the speed and capability of our 4G and 5G networks,” a Vodafone spokesperson said.
