Welcome rain: Geraldton receives 148.2mm for June
The winter rains arrived on cue in Geraldton this year after the driest autumn on record.
The Bureau of Meteorology at Geraldton recorded 148.2mm of rainfall in June after averaging just 1mm each month for the first five months of the year.
The June rains were more than double what was received for the same month last year, 58.6mm.
At the other extreme, Geraldton had its driest autumn since records began.
Between March and May, the Bureau of Meteorology recorded just 6mm of rain at Geraldton Airport, smashing the previous minimum record of 16mm in 2006.
Geraldton also had its driest May on record this year, with just 1.8mm landing in the rain gauge.
