Wet and wild action at Geraldton motocross round three

Last Sunday 65 local and visiting riders battled it out in some testing conditions at the Geraldton motocross track in round three of the 2022 season. The day started out in very wet conditions which tested the riders’ skills early on. The muddy, often slippery track ensured there was plenty of action as the thrills and spills came thick and fast. Conditions improved and the track formed up allowing for some fast runs and racing lines generating ever-quicker lap times. All riders performed well, particularly young Addison Orr who managed her first hole shot of the season (the first rider to get from the start gate out and through the apex of the first corner on the track). Race organiser Corey Leigh was full of praise for the youngster for “showing the boys how it’s done”. Another youngster, Angus Fay, showed he has got some great wet-weather riding skills. A-grade rider Jared Blakeney also put on a display of great skill all day even withstanding a few final race challenges for the lead from competitors. The Geraldton Junior & Senior Motocross Club season runs through to October with the new Geraldton MX Open taking place on August 28.
