A Rangeway woman was taken to Perth by the Royal Flying Doctor Service after her arm was clipped by a road train on Saturday morning.

Police allege the 20-year-old was lying on the verge of North West Coastal Highway in Wonthella about 5am when the accident occurred.

Police said the driver veered to the right to avoid what he believed to be an item on the side of the road.

The woman was taken to Geraldton Regional Hospital and later flown to Perth for treatment.
