A 31-year-old Glenfield woman who allegedly smashed a sign at a Geraldton bottle shop and threatened a staff member with a metal object has been charged.

Police said the incident happened when the woman was allegedly caught trying to steal liquor from Cellarbrations on Durlacher Street, about 5.30pm on Saturday.

Acting Sgt Gillian Simpson said the woman then allegedly got into a waiting car and fled the scene.

She was charged with being armed in a way that might cause fear and causing damage to property.

She will face Geraldton Magistrate’s Court on December 14.
