Women on Wheels: Geraldton’s free cycling event back for International Women’s Day on Sunday, March 9

Hot on the wheels of a successful first outing, an event celebrating local women and staying active is back next month, Sunday March 9. Women on Wheels Geraldton will align with International Women’s Day this year on Saturday, March 8. The free event encourages increased use of active travel and mobility, spreads the word about local cycling connectivity and aligns with International Women’s Day. This year’s theme, Accelerate Action, calls for the community to come together and celebrate the women in their lives with a leisurely bike ride, stroll, skate or scooter along the Geraldton coast. City of Greater Geraldton deputy mayor Natasha Colliver was delighted to see the return of the event and encouraged everyone to join in. “After all the positive feedback from last year’s event, it was a no-brainer to bring Women on Wheels Geraldton back and I’m delighted to participate once again,” she said. “This year will be bigger and better than ever as we have a brand-new 8km route starting at the Point Moore Lighthouse and heading south to Glendinning Park before looping back and finishing at Geraldton Surf Lifesaving Club. “So dust off your wheels, put on your most glamorous outfit, strap on your helmet and come join the fun.” People who want to take part in the Women on Wheels event must register via Humanitix.
