Robert Neil Peters: Guilty pleas to possessing child exploitation material and fined for drugs charges

A Woodanilling resident has pleaded guilty to possessing explicit videos of children and a large amount of blood flow pills unlawfully purchased on the internet. Robert Neil Peters, 67, appeared in Katanning Magistrates Court on September 16 where he pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing child exploitation material, possessing a prohibited drug and unlawful possession of a controlled or prescription drug. During a search of Peters’ motorhome at the Woodanilling Caravan Park on March 27, police discovered various child exploitation material, including 18 category-one videos. Police also found more than 200 tadalafil tablets of differing sizes and Peters had declared he had 10g of cannabis in his freezer. Peters told the court he had been given tadalafil by a friend in the army to help with his blood flow and had recently purchased more from the internet. He said he did not know it was illegal but accepted ignorance is not an excuse. Peters said the 10g of cannabis was what was left of a plant he had grown many years ago for personal use, but had not touched it for a few years. Peters had no explanation for the child exploitation material. Magistrate Erin O’Donnell said Peters should have gauged that it was not lawful to purchase prescription medication online from an international pharmacy without a prescription. Peters was given a global fine of $850 and $156 in costs for the drugs charges. He will appear in Albany District Court on December 3 for sentencing for the two counts of child exploitation material and his bail was extended.
