Siua Wong has turned down interest from rival clubs to ink a new two-year deal that will keep the exciting back-rower at the Roosters until the end of the 2026 season.

Touted as one of the most promising players in the game, the 20-year-old started the year in reserve grade but got his chance in round 18 when he made his NRL debut against Manly.

Wong was a key part of the Roosters’ late-season push to the finals, with the back-rower scoring a crucial try to help eliminate the Sharks in the first week of the post-season.

It capped a meteoric rise for Wong, who joined the Roosters when he was 14 and became the first player to graduate to the NRL via the club’s academy.

“I’ve loved the Roosters since the day I joined the club as a young teenager. I’ve found a home here and I’m proud to wear the Roosters jersey every chance I get,” he said.

“I’m so lucky to be coached by Trent and to be mentored by the senior players at the club. I still have a lot of improvement in me and I’m looking forward to continuing to work hard to keep developing as a player and also as a person.”

Wong represented Fiji at last year’s World Cup before he’d made his NRL debut and then came off the bench for Tonga in the recent tour of England.

Club officials clearly wanted to secure his services long term given he became a free agent on November 1, with big things expected of Wong who won the club’s Rising Star and NSW Cup Player of the Year awards.

“I’ve loved watching Siua’s growth in confidence not only as a player, but also within the squad, over the last few years,” Roosters coach Trent Robinson said.

“Whatever he is tasked with, whether it be at training or to do with his studies, he gives his all, and it’s exciting for the Roosters to know that he will continue to be part of the next generation we have progressing through the ranks together.”
