GFL clubs urged to attend Goldfields concussion workshop

Goldfields Football League officials have urged representatives from each of the five senior clubs to attend a special concussion seminar on September 11. The two-hour program at Kalgoorlie Overland Motel will provide updated information about understanding, managing and preventing concussion. It will be led by Curtin University sports medicine physician Dr Gill Cowen, who will outline how to recognise the signs and symptoms of concussion and the importance of safely managing mild brain injuries. Next month’s seminar is a free community education event and includes concussions due to falls, road traffic incidents and physical assaults. It will be held from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
