Lotto: Mandurah woman celebrates $1.6 million Saturday Lotto win
A Mandurah resident who has been playing the same Lotto numbers for more than 50 years is celebrating a lucky win.
The woman, in her 70s, had made a quick dash to the shops and was not shopping in her regular local area.
“I needed kitty litter, and thought I’d go to Pinjarra to avoid the busy traffic,” she said.
Being a registered player she got a phone call from Lotterywest customer service the following day to share the life changing news, she had just won $1.6 million.
“I couldn’t believe it, you never expect it to happen to you. I’m still processing it to be honest,” she said.
“I was worried it was a scam, so I called Lotterywest right back on their main number to confirm.”
There was nothing to be alarmed about the call, Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender explained.
“When a registered ticket matches the numbers to a Division One prize, the player receives a phone call first thing the next business day.
“Our customer service team love to make these phone calls, sharing this once in a lifetime moment with players, breaking the good news and hearing their story,” she said.
West Australians have the opportunity to win again in Thursday’s $20 million Powerball jackpot.
