One lucky West Australian is $80 million richer after taking out the Powerball division one prize on Thursday night, the State’s largest ever Lotto win.

Lotterywest confirmed that a single WA ticket holder took out the entire sum — in what is set to be the greatest early Christmas present ever.

The life-changing sum is a staggering $30m more than the previous WA record, set in July 2015 and the third-biggest win in Australian Lotto history.

That $50m win went to a family who bought their ticket in Armadale who said after the huge win that they were “seriously shaking” at seeing their numbers line up.

Thursday night’s big winner is not quite a record breaker in terms of individual wins in Australia however - which remains $107m claimed by a punter in Sydney in January 2017.

While not as significant as the division one win, there were also a number of other WA winners claiming smaller prizes.

One WA winner scooped $89,207 with seven winning numbers, to claim one of 14 division two wins.

A further 25 players in the State claimed a handy $5374 in division three prizes.

Lotterywest is expected to announce the location of where the winning ticket was sold in an announcement on Friday morning.

Lotterywest Acting CEO Jeremy Hubble said he was thrilled to be able to congratulate a WA player on this huge win.

“We’ve re-written the history books for WA Lotto tonight with this incredible result,” he said.

“It also contributes to a fast-growing tally of division one winners across the State in 2021 which has reached 64.”

The winning numbers were 27, 30, 4, 5, 33, 26, 19 and the Powerball was 8.
