A surf lifesaver attacked during an alleged horror home invasion on the Gold Coast has spoken from his hospital bed about the moment he confronted the alleged attacker in his living room.

During the alleged altercation which followed, Mr Molon received multiple stab wounds – losing part of his nose.

Police also allege at about 3.30am the same man attempted to enter a house on Pappas Way but fled after occupants heard noises and turned on a light.

The attacker is suspected to have acted alone, according to detective inspector Mark Mooney.

Residents have been advised against confronting intruders, noting that several recent injuries occurred during such confrontations.

“My advice is just to leave them alone; do not confront them … property is not worth your life,” Mr Mooney said.

Police are urging anyone with information, dashcam or CCTV footage to contact them.
