Three South West restaurants to plate up special dishes for State food and beverage campaign

Three restaurants in the South West will be plating up special dishes crafted from local produce next month, as part of a State program to shine a spotlight on WA’s food and beverage scene during the quieter winter months.
Tall Timbers Manjimup, Amelia Park Restaurant and Drakesbrook Fine Wines will be among 45 venues across WA taking part in the Plating Up WA campaign — an initiative of the WA Government’s Buy West Eat Best program, now in it’s seventh edition.
Plating up everything from breakfasts and long lunches to grazing boards and dinners, during June the eateries will aim to showcase fresh local ingredients, such as wild-caught fish, succulent beef, pork and lamb, artisan cheeses, seasonal fruits and vibrant veggies.
Tall Timbers Manjimup will conjure up their take on a classic truffle burger — with 8g of fresh black truffle, beetroot relish, bacon, Brunswick Cheddar, a Stirling Ranges ground beef pattie and hand cut royal blue chips.
Buy West Eat Best program manager Melissa Worthington said they were “thrilled” to bring the program back again.
“Since launching in 2018, this campaign has showcased more than 300 venues and it continues to grow each year,” she said.
“I’m especially excited to see new venues joining us for the very first time this year.
“Many of the ingredients featured are selected directly from our Buy West Eat Best ingredient register — it’s a true celebration of our local producers and the creative chefs who bring their stories to life on the plate.”

Drakesbrook Fine Wines in Waroona will be serving up a Ha-Ve Harvey cheese platter, which features autumn condiments with house quince paired with estate grown malbec and mourvedre wine.

Wilyabrup’s Amelia Park Restaurant will create a Great Southern honey mousse, with Omega walnut oil gelato, white chocolate, candied Omega walnuts, apple cake and cream from Bannister Downs Dairy.
