Geraldton’s Fringe World Festival, Funtavia, will return in the New Year with a smorgasbord of local, national and international artists.

Running from Thursday February 9 to Saturday February 11, Funtavia will feature more than 30 performances in the heart of the West End.

Creative Producer Julian Canny said there’s something for everyone over the three nights.

“No show will be the same, but we guarantee that each one will be insanely entertaining,” he said.

“You can expect to see rappers, graffiti artists, rambling parents, comedians, improvisers, musicians and entertainers alike.”

With a heavy focus on locally produced shows, four comedy performances will debut at Funtavia, The Hungry Games, Smell like Meme Spirit, An Incompetent Life and Regional Produce.

Many of these productions will have the chance to tour Perth for future performances.

Sydney-based comedian Jacques Barrett, Canadian/Australian comedian Tor Snyder and the critically-acclaimed theatrical show Graeme of Thrones will also feature in the lineup.

With art exhibitions and a pop-up bar running throughout the festival, Event Producer Jodi Reilly said Funtavia helps bring the city to life.

“Funtavia aims to further boost Geraldton’s reputation as a colourful, lively and enviable place to live,” she said.

“We are extremely excited that we are able to deliver something that is really unique to Geraldton, and invests directly into our local performers, while offering world class entertainment.”

Funtavia will be officially launched tonight in the CreativeHub as part of Christmas on the Terrace.

Funtavia premiered in Geraldton this year and was well received by the community.
