Geraldton woman escapes car fire on Brand Highway
A Geraldton woman has had a fiery near miss on the Brand Highway near Dongara this morning, after her car suddenly burst into flames about 11am.
Senior Constable Richard Fox from Dongara Police said the woman was driving when she started smelling smoke, before suddenly noticing there was a fire starting in the car.
“Luckily she pulled over and jumped out before she got hurt,” he said.
“As to where or how the fire started is unknown at the moment.
“It’s a very lucky escape that could have been far worse.”
The incident occurred as the woman was driving her Mercedes Benz hatch on the Brand Highway just south of the Midlands Road intersection.
Local DFES crews attended the scene and were able to extinguish the fire without incident.
