Police swoop on Geraldton drug properties
Police swooped on a house and two units in Geraldton this week, seizing what is believed to be “significant” amounts of methamphetamine, along with LSD tablets, magic mushrooms, cannabis and a hydroponic set-up.
About 8.30pm yesterday, officers from Geraldton Response Team 3 executed a drug search warrant on a unit in
Ainsworth Street, Geraldton, where they found what it is believed to be a “significant” amount of methamphetamine.
A 23-year-old Geraldton man has been charged with possession of a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply, possession of a prohibited drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Earlier that night, about 5.45pm, officers from the same team executed a drug search warrant on a unit in Carter Street.
There they located a hydroponic set-up for cultivation of cannabis, cannabis leaf, some magic mushrooms and tablets believed to be LSD.
A 45-year-old Rangeway man was charged with possession of a prohibited drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of cultivating a prohibited drug and two counts of possession of a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply.
The Ainsworth Street seizure is believed to be the second “significant” methamphetamine bust in two days.
At 11.30am on Wednesday, officers from the Geraldton Volume Crime Team and Response Team 4 executed a drug search warrant on a house in Seventh Street, Wonthella, where they allegedly found the drug.
A 23-year-old Wonthella woman has been charged with possession of a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply, possession of a prohibited drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of stolen or unlawfully obtained property.
A 28-year-old Wonthella woman has also been charged with possession of stolen or unlawfully obtained property.
Mid West Gascoyne District Acting Superintendent Craig Collins said more charges could be pending in some of the cases.
He said this week's searches were part an ongoing operation to limit the use of illicit drugs in the region.
“A number of search warrants were executed on premises identified from community information as targets for illicit drug use,” he said.
“That will continue over coming weeks and will be ongoing.”
Police also seized illicit drugs from properties in Carnarvon and Meekatharra this week as part of the operation.
