Santas saunter and sprint to help charity
While Christmas is still a little over a month away, the Geraldton foreshore briefly donned festive decorations on Sunday as almost 150 people put on a Father Christmas suit and took to the pavements for the fourth annual Variety Santa Fun Run.
Santas of all ages walked, ran, cycled and scooted along a 3.5km circuit, raising almost $5000 for children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs in the process.
Variety WA Mid West regional co-ordinator Jan Ajduk said with the weather clearing up, it provided the fun-runners with the perfect start to a Sunday morning.
“It was just excellent, the weather was beautiful and everyone just enjoyed the walk along the foreshore,” she said.
The event was co-ordinated by Variety WA Mid West Geraldton branch and sponsored by Everybody Group Fitness.
