2023 Chapman Valley Agricultural Show set to be a display of Mid West resilience and community

The Chapman Valley Agricultural Show will return this Saturday for a day that will showcase the work of many hands and celebrate the regional experience. The quintessential rural experience will be held at the Chapman Valley Showgrounds, celebrating the 73rd year of the event that has been in the works since January. The show is happening on the same day as the Great Northern Football League’s grand finals, with the clash set to create some hard decisions for families about their choice of a Saturday outing. Seven months of dedication from the volunteer 20-person committee will come to life with log chopping, sheep shearing, poultry displays and food vans. The day includes $30,000 worth of entertainment for adults and kids, for the price of entry. Adults can be admitted for $18, 12-16 year olds are $8 and under 12s are free. Carnival rides from side show alley will be making an appearance, before they make their way to Perth for the Royal Show. The prize pool for sheep shearing is $7000, while the main exhibition hall for art, craft, vegetables and photography boasts $9000 up for grabs. Show president Darrell Forth said he was thankful to the shire for their input, as well as the work of more than 100 volunteers who made the show possible. “The show is a demonstration of resilience. The weather hasn’t been kind this year, but despite that we still have people turning up and wanting to help” he said. “The committee aimed to keep the costs associated on the day low.
