Around the grounds: Big wins for top teams in Central Coast Midlands as Morawa crush Carnamah Perenjori

The latest round of the Central Midlands Coastal Football League saw big losses for the bottom two teams ad league leaders Moora flexed their muscles. Jurien Bay were never a match for the Moora Mavericks as a nine-goal second quarter saw the floodgates open before a 10-goal last term blew them completely apart in the 25.19 (169) to 4.5 (29) victory. Oliver McDonald kicked six goals while Lachie Galsfurd and Kyle Murray both had four as Moora maintained their perfect run having won all 10 of their games. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are stuck at the bottom of the table with just one win so far in a difficult season. In the other game, Dandaragan’s last-quarter blitz saw off Lancelin’s challenge to run out 12.7 (79) to 4.10 (34) winners. Having trailed by 23 points at half-time, the Pirates fought their way back into the game and were just 11 points at the final break. But any chance of an upset was quickly put to bed as the Saints kicked five straight while keeping Lancelin scoreless to win by 45 points. It puts Dandaragan in all out on their own in third three wins back from Cervantes in second and three ahead of the Pirates in fifth who have just the two wins from the season. A top-of-the-table clash in the North Midlands Football League resembled anything but as Morawa crushed Carnamah Perenjori 20.14 (134) to 5.8 (38). In a bottom-of-the-table clash, Three Springs pushed Dongara but just didn’t quite have enough as they lost 9.9 (63) to 12.12 (84) to still remain without a win after 10 games. Mingenew faced Coorow Latham but the result was not available in time for print. In the Gascoyne Football Association, Ramblers were forced to forfeit against the Exmouth Eagles, who were given a 60-point win. It brings an end to the Tigers’ perfect winning record having won all seven games previously as Exmouth move to a 3-4 record for the season to sit in second above the Warriors. It is the second week in a row the senior fixture of the league has been forfeited following Warriors’ withdrawal against Ramblers last round.
