B52s stunned by Demons to lose top spot but women secure minor premiership

Demons A-grade men’s side had a huge day in the pool on Saturday as they took down the B52s and went top of the ladder for the first time this season. The Demons took down the B52s 0-7 in an entertaining and action-packed match-up. Joel Cross and Lachy Toomath were the stars both bagging three goals each, with Drew MacGregor once more dominant in the Demons’ goal. MacGregor was elated with the team’s grit and tenacity throughout the match. “The team is feeling great, real happy and pumped after an intense game,” he said. “It was great to have a final-like game with that sort of intensity and feeling, full credit to B52s as they keep coming and putting pressure on us all game.” Rats played the composite country week team with Rats winning to a forced loss to country week. In women’s A-grade games, B52s stuck to their script and were victorious over Serpents. Tenielle Hawke and Maddie Pead both scored hat-tricks in the 12-4 win. Serpents put up a good fight but it was the B52s afternoon with their top position on the ladder all but assured it is difficult to see how anything but a championship trophy at the end of the season is coming their way. Rats played Demons in the other A-grade women’s game, with the Demons taking out the win in convincing style 12 goals to 4. Jazmin Cocking and Kobi Toomath both netted an impressive five goals. In B-grade women, Serpents beat Rats 5-3 thanks to four goals from Sabine Angelatos. Demons lost out to a confident B52s side 6-4 as Hailee Horseman again impressed for the B52s with two goals. The men’s games saw the B52s take the Derby honours, beating out the B52s’ relics 13-4. Jack Deschamps the star of the B52s show, scored four goals and set up multiple others. In the other B grade game, Demons took down Rats in convincing fashion, taking the win 12-4 with Lachy Toomath scoring 5 for the victors. In C grade men’s games, B52s White won over Rats 5-2 and B52s Blue dominated Demons in their 11-2 victory. In the women’s C grade, Rats Orange put on a masterclass in their victory over Demons Gold, winning 15-1, while Demons Black were victorious 7-4 against Rats Black. Serpents narrowly lost out to B52s 6-4.
