Cake artist Sarah Valette makes her way to Geraldton and Carnarvon to provide cookie workshops

A passionate cake-decorating enthusiast is hitting Geraldton and Carnarvon to host cookie decorating workshops, teaching keen bakers how to present their goods in watercolour blues and pastel pinks. The self-taught decorator, an ex-police officer from France, travels along the coast to provide fun and informative lessons on how to decorate baked goods, and will visit the Mid West for the sixth time. Join Sarah Valette in Carnarvon on Saturday, February 18 and learn tips and tricks to decorate a love heart-shaped cookie with meringues, piped icing, chocolate moulds and more. From 1.30pm-6pm, adults and children over 12 will get the opportunity to make and take their designs home in a well-presented box. “I love making cakes, creating designs and sharing my knowledge. I discovered a new part of me when I’ve started teaching classes, another way to make people happy besides making their cake myself,” Ms Valette said. “I now have some wonderful loyal customers in Geraldton coming back to each class.” Ms Valette said in 2021 she made WA’s tallest wedding cake at 2.61m high, and she had the most fun building 3-D cakes. “I find it amazing to be able to go further than Perth and reach regions where no one offers such classes,” she said.
