Christmas 2024 messages: Nationals WA leader Shane Love on party’s regional focus

As the year comes to a close, I’d like to extend my warmest wishes to everyone in Geraldton and the Mid West for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It has been both an honour and a privilege to represent the people of regional WA for another year, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in 2025. With both State and Federal elections on the horizon, we have a real chance to deliver a fresh start for our regions. The Nationals WA have an ambitious plan to put regional WA back on track. We’ll prioritise regional health, fast-tracking hospital upgrades through our $400 million Regional Health Infrastructure Fund and deliver a record investment to the Patient Assisted Travel Scheme. The Nationals will prioritise road safety, investing $276 million in the Safer Local Roads Program, which both the RAC and the WA Local Government Association have long advocated for. We’ll tackle the regional housing crisis by unlocking land development with our $1 billion Regional Headworks Fund. We will fully restore Royalties for Regions to ensure regional communities receive their fair share. And we will fight to stop Labor’s war on the weekend, so your family and friends can continue to do the things Western Australians love — fishing, shooting and four-wheel-driving. The Mid West is bursting with opportunity — it just needs the right leadership to unlock its full potential. This Christmas, I encourage you to take a moment to relax, reflect, and cherish time with your loved ones.
